Shellie’s Shooting Stars Preschool’s mission is to provide a safe and fun environment that emphasizes learning, exploration, socialization and preparation for Kindergarten.

 

Because each child is unique, and in order to achieve that mission, I evaluate and assess each child's prior knowledge, and, working together with the family, build upon their strengths and find ways to make improvements in the areas in which they may need support.

Routine is important and helps to foster an environment of learning, and likewise, establishes expectations of appropriate behavior. 

 

As we are working on social skills, such as taking turns and sharing, gross motor skills through physical activity and exercise, fine motor skills, like practicing using scissors and writing their name, in addition to academics, social studies, science and the arts, maintaining a safe, predictable routine is imperative to creating a climate that is relaxed and fun, as well as productive. 

 

Children thrive when they know what to expect, and understand what is expected of them.

Our typical schedule runs in flexible 15 - 30 minute blocks, to accommodate for short attention spans.

Block 1  : Outdoor Play (We utilize the garage in inclement weather)

Block 2  : Opening Activity (Play-Doh, puzzles, crafts)

Block 3  : Circle Time - Flag Salute, Weather, Calendar, Colors, Shapes, Letters, Numbers, Moods, Classroom Jobs
 

Block 4  : Snack

Block 5  : Free Play & Individual Instruction

Block 6  : Seat Work

Block 7  : Closing Circle Time - Music, Show & Tell, Story Time

Occasionally we will deviate from the typical schedule in order to receive guests from our area, such as local artists, musicians or community workers, to celebrate something special, or sometimes just to be spontaneous! 

2 & 3 Year Old Classes meet 2 times each week.
Tuesdays & Thursdays
9:00 am - 11:30 am. 
Tuition is $130 / month.

4 Year Old Classes meet 3 times each week.
Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays
12:15 pm - 2:45 pm.
Tuition is $190 / month.

Classes run from early September through mid-June.
